Work in progress: Anush Ghukasyan and Uriel Caspi; Photo: Florian Schurz
After an exciting and productive time together at the Keramikkünstlerhaus, the exhibition of the current guest artists Anush Ghukasyan from Armenia and Uriel Caspi from Israel opens on 23 May at 6 pm. On display are works that were created during six weeks of intensive work and exchange as part of the international °Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem programme.
Anush Ghukasyan is showing a spatial installation in which she raises questions about consumption and art and makes references to the current situation in Armenia. She plays with domestic cosiness and security and confronts this emotional landscape with symbols of discomfort and ultimately with death.
Uriel Caspi explores the relationship between the human body and the posthuman. He poses questions about the development of humanity: what might our excavated anatomical fragments look like in a distant future? In the exhibition at the Keramikkünstlerhaus, Caspi visualises an inner world, transforming familiar genetic structures into abstract forms that seem to have been created for a future reality.
The exhibition opening will take place on Thursday, 23 May at 6 pm with a short introduction and an artist talk.
