Seit Ende der 1980er Jahre fördert die Stadt Neumünster moderne Keramikkunst. Junge Nachwuchstalente erhalten die Chance, Atelier- und Galerieräume der in Deutschland einmaligen Stadttöpferei zu leiten. Förderer sind die Dr. Hans Hoch Stiftung und seit 2007 die Stiftung der Sparkasse Südholstein.

Im Spätsommer 2010 können sich nun zum ersten Mal vier Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus dem In- und Ausland für die Teilnahme am Internationalen Keramiksymposium Neumünster 2010 bewerben. Das Thema „trans|formation“ wird dabei im Fokus stehen. AbsolventInnen von Kunsthochschulen und erfahrene KeramikkünstlerInnen sind aufgerufen sich mit einer Ideenskizze am Wettbewerb zu beteiligen. Das dreiwöchige Symposium beginnt am 29. August 2010 und ist Hauptbestandteil des gleichzeitig stattfindenden 12. Kulturfestivals „Kunstflecken“. Es stehen Arbeitsmaterialien, Werkzeuge sowie Brennöfen zur Verfügung. Kosten für Materialien, Unterkunft, Verpflegung, sowie ein Reisekostenzuschuss werden von den Organisatoren übernommen. Das Symposium und die entstandenen Kunstobjekte werden dokumentiert und in einer Ausstellung in der Galerie der Stadttöpferei Neumünster  sowie im schleswig-holsteinischen Landesmuseum Schloß Gottorf anschließend zu sehen sein. Die Teilnehmenden überlassen anschließend jeweils eine der entstandenen Arbeiten der Stadttöpferei Neumünster.

Die Bewerbung (in deutsch oder englisch) umfasst eine formloses Anschreiben mit alle Kontaktdaten (Name, Adresse, e-mail), die Ideenskizze (maximal eine Seite Text, inklusive grafische Skizzen), einen Lebenslauf der künstlerische Qualitäten und Engagement deutlich machen, sieben Farbbilder von neueren Arbeiten (max. A 4, Farbabzüge, keine Dias) mit Angabe des Titels, des Entstehungsjahres, der  Originalmaße, der verwendeten Materialien.

Die vollständige Bewerbung muss auf dem Postweg bis zum 31. Mai 2010 bei der Stadttöpferei Neumünster | Galerie in Fürsthof, Fürsthof 8, 24534 Neumünster eintreffen. Später eingehende oder unvollständige Unterlagen können bei der Auswahl nicht berücksichtigt werden und haben den Ausschluss vom Wettbewerb zur Folge. Die Entscheidung der Jury – mit Prof. Dr. Kerstin Abraham (Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel), Dr. Ulrich Schneider (Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landesmuseum Schloß Gottorf), Sünne Höhn (Kulturbüro Neumünster) und Danijela Pivašević-Tenner (Stipendiatin der Stadttöpferei) – wird Mitte Juni 2010 veröffentlicht.

Call for application

International Ceramic Symposium Neumünster 2010

Since the late 1980s, the city Neumünster promotes modern ceramic art. Young talents get a chance to conduct the studio and gallery spaces of the unique Stadttöpferei Neumünster | Galerie im Fürsthof. Sponsors are the Dr. Hans Hoch Foundation and since 2007 the Foundation of the Sparkasse Südholstein.

In late summer 2010, now for the first time, four artists from Germany and from abroad are invited to apply to the International Ceramic Symposium Neumünster 2010. The topic “trans|formation” will be the focus of the symposium. Graduates of art schools and experienced ceramic artists are invited to participate in the competition with a idea sketch. The three-week symposium starting 29 August 2010 as a major part of the 12th cultural festival “Kunstflecken”. For the artists materials, tools and kilns are available. Costs for materials, accommodation, meals, and a travel subsidy will be provided by the organizers. This symposium and the resulting art objects will be  documented, an exhibition at the Gallery of the Stadttöpferei Neumünster and in the Landesmuseum in Schleswig-Holstein in Gottorf will be shown then. Each participant then donate one of their resulting works to the Stadttöpferei Neumünster.

The application (in german or english) includes an informal letter with all contact information (name, address, email), the idea sketch (one page text, including graphical sketches), a CV to present the artistic qualities and commitment, seven color images of recent works (max. 20 x 30 cm, color prints, no slides) with the title, year of creation, the original dimensions, the materials used.

The completed application must be sent via mail to Stadttöpferei Neumünster | Galerie im Fürsthof, Fürsthof 8, 24534 Neumünster, Germany and arrive until 31 May 2010. Later incoming or incomplete documents can not be considered in the selection and have the exclusion from the competition result. The jury’s decision – by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Abraham (Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel), Dr. Ulrich Schneider (Schleswig-Holstein’s state museum “Schloß Gottorf”), Sünne Höhn (Cultural Office of the City of Neumünster) und Danijela Pivašević-Tenner (Stipendiary of the Stadttöpferei) – will be published in mid-June 2010.
